Your Guide to Getting Started
Welcome and Overview
Whether you’re new to ESA+ or a returning home school family, this page is your one-stop resource for making the most of your scholarship. Here, you’ll find guidance on what expenses are covered and how to purchase them, and helpful tools to keep your home school year running smoothly.
Step-by-Step: How ESA+ Works for Home School Families
Every ESA+ journey is unique, but there are a few key steps that every family should follow if they plan to use these funds to create a home school experience for their children. This timeline will help you to stay on track throughout the school year.
1. Accept Your Award
You’ll receive an email notification of your award. From there, you should log in to MyPortal to accept your ESA+ award, complete the Parent Agreement, and submit any outstanding information.
2. Review Materials & Start Planning
While you wait for funds to be disbursed, review the Allowable Expenses Guide and start planning which materials and services you would like to purchase.
3. Set up your ClassWallet Account
Funds are added to your ClassWallet account in late summer. Once funds are available, you will receive an email from ClassWallet with instructions to set up your account and start purchasing approved materials and services.
4. Use Funds & Prepare for Next Year
Be sure to use your funds before June 15 of each school year and meet any minimum spending requirements to remain eligible for the ESA+ program. Then, log in to MyPortal to renew your award for the following year.
